Solar Milk is a handy light and power bank that anyone can use. It makes an excellent night or flashlight, with four hours of bright light per charge, or six hours of soft light. It can also be used as a power bank to charge cell phones.

Remember, as well as giving power to your phone, Solar Milk is also designed to empower kids in Tanzania to go to school. When you buy a Solar Milk battery and light for yourself, you can also buy the same device for a child in Africa. While you can charge Solar Milk using a USB-C charger at home, African kids charge them at special solar charging systems, called Solar Cows, which are installed in schools.
Why is the MSRP for Give 1 much more expensive than Receive 1?
In the case of Receive 1, YOLK only has to cover the manufacturing fee of one Solar Milk. However, Give 1 includes the cost of installing a Solar Cow including a charging station with solar system on top of the manufacturing cost. Also, the transportation and delivery fees tend to increase the farther we go into rural areas, which is where Solar Cows will be installed. We must also take into account the costs of maintaining the system, which includes employment costs,
so when we divide the total cost by the number of Solar Milk charged by each system, we arrive at an estimate of around $98 ~ $118. However, through this campaign, YOLK will provide both Receive 1 and Give 1 at $28 to ensure that many more people can participate in the Solar Cow project with minimal financial burden. (Costs above $28 will be covered by making use of YOLK's own CSR funds as well as grants, and revenue from distributing data.
What’s more, backers who select the Give + data option will be shown data on kids' charging of their Solar Milk. Each battery given to kids in Tanzania has a unique ID code, which the Solar Cow records every time it is used. This allows supporters to see the real impact of their purchase for a better world.
