KOBI by CRIMAGNO
A walking laboratory that intelligently combines industrial design, ergonomy, sustainability, and fashion.
KOBI is designed for the planet and perfected for your feet. The KOBI by CRIMAGNO is an exceptionally designed shoe, practically hand-made in Italy. At its core, the KOBI is a gender-neutral shoe created through sustainable practices and high values. At CRIMAGNO, we take shoes personally. The tape of our zips is made with recycled polyester, and their production process is guaranteed by various environmental certificates, including the Greenpeace detox.
Combining our extensive knowledge in industrial design and shoe manufacturing with eco-friendly materials and responsible production, the KOBI redefines what footwear can be in every possible aspect. We've split the soul in two, supporting the calcaneus (heel) and metatarsal (foot pad). This provides a walking experience similar to that of bare feet. This design adds degrees of freedom to both the torsion and the bending of the foot.
We use natural rubber, which is the noblest material that can be used for the bottom of a shoe, together with recycled material that belongs to the soles company's production scrap, obtained through a complex devulcanization process which does not cause the product to lose quality. Thanks to this process, we can reduce the amount of new material needed and save energy during production.
With some models, we load the compound with hemp wood, a waste of hemp processing. Used as a filler, it allows us to increase the percentage of natural material in our soles, making them even more distinctive.Inspired by the wooden frames of couches, we have replaced the typical metal shank with one made of recycled wood.
The shoe upper is a real construction prodigy. It is modeled in a single piece with a single rear seam and a lower closure. It is an extrusion in bio-based (corn and apple) and solvent-free TPU on certified cotton supports. Truly extraordinary, considering its strength and durability. The lining of the KOBI is one of the components we have tested the most. The result is guaranteed breathability, thermoregulation, and antibacterial properties.
The fussbett is made in an innovative, eco-sustainable polyurethane, produced by an internal recovering processing waste that allows the company that produces them to reduce the introduction of new material into the production cycle. It is made of non-woven fabrics produced using recycled polyester fibers (from post-consumer recycling of PET bottles. It is sown in spring and harvested in late summer at the peak of ripeness.
It requires very little water, and hemp plantations do not need aggressive treatments with pesticides, herbicides, or other chemicals. We avoid trends. We focus on creating a feeling of timelessness and elegance. Longevity is today one of the highest parameters of modernity, so we focused on making a high-quality product that stands the test of time. This same focus applies to our environment too.
The plant can grow up to 4 meters, has robust roots that induce oxygenation of the soil, and is capable of reclaiming polluted soils and enriching them (increasing their productivity) thanks to a substantial supply of nitrogen. Hemp is also one of the most efficient plants in converting carbon dioxide into oxygen.
One of our central values is making a positive difference for our planet. We believe that everyone must make an effort to reduce their CO2 emissions. We believe we can make our planet greener, and we plan to do our best to achieve this.We are developing a program that allows you to return your old pair of KOBIs for an incentive. The old pair will then be stripped down. We will take care of the correct disassembly and recycling of individual parts. For example, soles will be used to build athletics racetracks.
Instead of the traditional single-use shoe box, KOBI comes in a 100% recycled, GRS-certified felt bag. The bag can be used for 1000 different uses instead of being thrown away after taking out your new shoes. We are pleased to announce that we were chosen as one of 45 excellences showcased at the IFC Mall in Hong Kong to honor the number of years Henderson Land has been in Hong Kong.
To celebrate their 45-year milestone, Handerson Land collaborated with Rossana Orlandi to show the public something they have never seen before. From 11 to 28 July 2021, it was demonstrated how waste could be turned into something beautiful and offer inspiration to find new meaning in waste and upcycled materials while protecting the environment.
The "Waste Is Value" expo showcased 45 unique exhibits created with reWaste or upcycled materials.KOBI was selected among the finalists of the Ro Plastic Prize 2021 and presented at the "Transformation Village" at the Museo Della Scienza e Della Tecnologia Leonardo Da Vinci during the Milano Design Week 2021.
