Randy & Manilla - Two sibs in a Multi-Genre travel
Discover a amazing virtual quantum universe of Net-Cubes in a computer from a far & dark future.
Imagine a universe where wholly different kinds of games and challenges you know and love are all merging in one. A passion project from the mind of a disgraced scientist, a pixelated cosmos containing the remains of a beloved heritage of games resembling the ones that made you happy. That universe is about to disappear... but you can save the day.
Randy & Manilla is a game where we discover a mysterious quantum cyber-universe formed by Net-Cubes that contain virtual worlds with various genres of games. A strange kind of virtual environment with the inspiration of Wreck-It Ralph in a later post-apocalyptic era like Ready Player One.
In the year 2142, inside the mysteries of the quantum supercomputer created by Lambert Wilson, there is a cyber-universe surrounded by brightly colored cubes called Net-Cubes. Within them, they hold fantastic virtual worlds of pixelated and abstract structures. It is free from threats like hackers, cyber-spies and corporate and government organizations. But that doesn't mean that they don’t have their own dangers within them; such as the villain of the red Net-Cube.
Cracksom Virus. This dominating virus is putting all Net-Cubes in danger of being permanently eliminated, so he can expand his empire of computing corruption to the real world, abandoned by humans.
Meanwhile, a messaging algorithm called E-Mailer arrives at the world of Bloxland Qubitown, Randy and Manilla’s home, giving them an urgent warning: the entire cyber-universe is in grave danger of being destroyed by Cracksom. He knows that they are the only ones who can stop his great threat. Moreover, according to Blue Quantáramo, our heroes hold a hidden programming and power that prevents them from being corrupted by Cracksom himself.
And so, they accept the mission and embark on a great adventure through all the different Net-Cubes. E-Mailer will also come along and open portals so our heroes can access the new worlds.
Given the nature of the works that inspired the game, there are cameos and references to gaming culture. That's why multi-genre was something that was at least worth applying. Each Net-Cube represents a game genre with specific levels referring to it.
For instance, Terra-Qubit has levels based of the platformers, Gamezone Cube with the classic arcade games, or Rol & Rogue with the rogue-lite and RPGs. So that you can understand it better, I leave you an example video about what the gameplay of the game consists of.
Although as an one-man-band project it may seem incredible, it wouldn't have been possible without the help of a handful of contributors from several ountries around the world. What makes it one of the most international indie games. As you can see, the list of international contributors is huge, something typical of a great indie game.
Making this game has taught me a lot about game developing notions and is the culmination of my learning and an artistic expression of my love for classic videogames. Until the date of this campaign, it's already about half finished, and I want to take it to the next level, where the story will become more important, with more detailed and expressive animations in the characters, and a little more complex levels.
But, unfortunately, I'm running out of resources to continue obtaining assets for the game. If the campaign fails to achieve its goal, the development of the game will be severely limited. That's why I need you guys! Like me, you're here because you cherish those old-fashioned games that were the foundations of your passion... and I need passionate people who care about something this ambitious.
That's why your campaign contribution can make the difference between success and failure of Randy & Manilla. I will be very grateful if you have done it or you chose any of the perks available in the campaign (located above to the right of the text): phone wallpapers, followed by a file with full of artwork showing the different stages of development, until the full game version when its release arrives.
And all of them include the possibility of including your name in the game credits, and also, some perks have add-ons included! In case we surpass the goal, one of the next steps could be applied to the game.If you like this campaign but you can't or prefer not to contribuite to it, don't forget to share with friends & community the campaign link from Facebook, Twitter, Mastodon or any other site, with the hashtag #RandyandManilla. Don't forget to share the word.
You have to order one of these before it's too late!
