E-Paddle, Introducing the next evolution in stand-up paddling - the revolutionary E-Paddle, In a world where stand-up paddling has taken the water sports scene by storm, the E-Paddle is set to redefine the experience entirely, With its innovative electric motor which slides seamlessly into the board, you can now effortlessly glide across the water, taking your stand-up paddling adventures to thrilling new heights, Furthermore, the E-Paddle kit allows you to turn every ordinary stand-up paddleboard into a powerful E-Paddle in a matter of seconds. Dive into a world of excitement, exploration, and unmatched paddling performance with the E-Paddle.
First and foremost, I aim to make substantial reductions in both the weight and volume of the electronic and battery components. My objective is to make them considerably lighter and more compact than their current form. My research has led me to the conclusion that it's entirely possible to shrink both the size and weight to at least half of their current dimensions.
Secondly, I'm determined to enhance the cooling system for the electronics by implementing a smaller, more robust water-cooling system. Additionally, I plan to redesign the Fin to ensure easy motor replacement in case of breakage.
Naturally, additional funding opens up more and better possibilities for the project's development and completion. Therefore, I've set an ambitious stretch goal of 50,000€, With this additional funding, I could revamp the entire fin of the board, making it more durable, resilient, and user-friendly for potential repairs when needed.
The additional funding will also be allocated to advance my research and development efforts, particularly in creating new tools to facilitate the testing and production of E-Paddle units for a small test production series, Also I have to experiment with different battery configurations and voltages to see if I could draw the same amount of power from smaller battery's by improving the electronics and control system of the board.
The most challenging aspect of my design is the Fin with the motor attachment, and it requires specialized tools to help E-Paddle reach the broader market. Additionally, I'm committed to extensively testing and refining various materials for the Fin to deliver the best and most durable product available.
In order to cater to different preferences, I plan to offer two variants of the E-Paddle. The first option will be more budget-friendly, featuring a smaller battery with up to two hours of runtime, This not only reduces the overall weight but maintains the same powerful output as E-Paddle V1, The second version, on the other hand, will include a larger battery set, extending runtime to an impressive 3.5 hours.
If this campaign proves successful, I plan to commence the development of E-Paddle V2, specifically for the consumer market. Following that, I will launch a subsequent Kickstarter campaign, providing you with the opportunity to purchase the fully finished and consumer-ready E-Paddle version. My goal is to have the finalized product ready for purchase by the summer of 2024.
How it works: The kit is divided into two key components: firstly, the motor, designed to effortlessly slide onto any standard SUP board, and secondly, the waterproof box. This box houses the electronic components and the batteries responsible for powering the board, along with an integrated water pump.
Transforming your regular SUP board into an E-Paddle is a quick and straightforward process. Just slide the motor into place and connect it to the waterproof box, securely attached to the rear of your board. These simple steps can be completed in approximately 30 seconds, allowing you to swiftly get on the water and enjoy your E-Paddle adventure.
Manufacturing & testing process: E-Paddle's journey began with a quick sketch on paper, capturing the concept in a matter of minutes. However, as I recognized its tremendous potential, the path to design and construction became far more intricate, Shortly thereafter, the initial designs and CAD models were crafted, These served as invaluable guides, illuminating the path to creating E-Paddle and devising a secure mechanism for motor placement. Additionally, the CAD models facilitated seamless virtual stress tests, providing essential insights into the design's robustness.
To bring E-Paddle V1 to life, 3D printing and laser cutting played a pivotal role in crafting and assessing various prototypes. Initially, I intended to use reinforced 3D prints for the outer ring, which shields the motor, But through rigorous testing, it became evident that plastic lacked the durability required for this critical component. Consequently, I opted for a metal counterpart, robust enough to withstand the stresses it might encounter, Nonetheless, 3D printing remained a crucial aspect of manufacturing, enabling the exploration of different designs and prototypes.
E-Paddle underwent extensive testing to ensure its user-friendliness and accessibility to individuals without prior experience or specialized skills, Several individuals who had never used E-Paddle before were selected to try it out, and each of them successfully operated the board without any issues, While mastering the skill of standing up while driving required some practice, it was gratifying to observe that all participants were able to achieve proficiency within a mere 15-30 minutes.
Another crucial step in the E-Paddle manufacturing process involved ensuring flawless integration of the software with the motor and controller. It took numerous hours of dedicated effort, but ultimately, I've developed the ideal settings that optimize power output, long-term durability, and battery life to perfection.
Undoubtedly, a project like this requires a substantial amount of funding, primarily directed towards research, rigorous testing, and the development of new prototypes, With this initial prototype, my aim is to demonstrate the possibility of creating a conversion kit that surpasses the power and range of any existing product on the market today, I've committed myself to the mission of constructing a finalized and cost-effective version that will be ready for the broader market.
