The What:
I am designing a jewelry line to not only help with anxiety and depression through mindfulness and using the five senses as grounding methods but to also give anyone a beautiful piece of jewelry that can help keep you centered and calm throughout life’s stressful times. It is also my hope to bring awareness to the importance of mental health and help remove some of the negative labels placed on individuals struggling with mental illness.
With the Steeling Time Piece collection you can wear your reminder in style and begin to feel as good as you look.
The Who:
Our goal is to make jewelry that will be able to help anyone and everyone at some level. Everyone has some point in their day that they could use a gentle reminder to: Reflect - Reset - Refocus.
• The stressed out business man or women who could use a simple piece of jewelry that can help reduce the high stress of today’s work environment.
• The stay at home mother or father dealing with the everyday challenges of raising children and taking care of the home.
• Anyone dealing with depression and anxiety issues
• Children or adults who suffer from ADHD, Autism or Aspergers
• Veterans who suffer from PTSD
• Anyone who suffers from past or present abuse
• Anyone who is dealing with grief from the passing of a loved one
The How:
While each piece can be worn separately, the collection works best as a three piece set containing bracelet, necklace and ring. Thing of your Steeling Time Jewelry set as a physical reminder to: Reflect - Reset - Refocus.
The bracelet is the foundational piece as it outlines the five steps used for grounding. During periods of stress and anxiety let your bracelet guide you through the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding method:
1. See - Take a look at your Steeling Time Pieces “Signature” bracelet. See the first grounding step of “sight” and name four other things around you that you can see.
2. Feel - Feel your bracelet on your skin. Feel the texture of the stone. Find two other things around you that you can feel.
3. Breathe - Use your “Just Breathe” ring to slow your breathing and practice three deep breathes. Inhale - Exhale - Repeat
4. Smell - Smell the lavender essential oil on your lava rock “Ground Me” pendant. Take a few deep breathes and let the soothing lavender scent fill your nostrils. Find one other things that you can smell. If you can’t find any other smells you can alternatively name one of your favorite scents in your mind.
5. Hear - close your eyes...count to five...name one thing you can hear around you. Become aware of the sound of birds chirping, the wind blowing or even the sound of your own breath.
Purposefully take in the details of your surroundings using each of your senses. Strive to notice small details that your mind would usually tune out, such as distant sounds, or the texture of an ordinary object.
The What Next & You:
I have designed artwork and renderings for all six of the pieces and would like to do intial launch in Q1 2021. I have plans to add two more designs in Q2 and at least one new product each quarter thereafter. I am seeking help with funding the final stage of production as each of these pieces require custom mold fees in addition to high minimum order quantities of 200+ pieces per design.
